The Daytona Beach area is famous for hosting famously fun festivals throughout the year. And when a special holiday rolls around, everything is kicked up yet another fabulously fun notch!  This year, there are countless events planned to celebrate the arrival of Florida’s beautiful fall season, the popular tourist month of October and the spooky sensations of the Halloween holiday.

Here’s a look at just a few of the options you could consider for celebrating the ghostly holiday that sends costume-adorned adults and children into local neighborhoods, museums, parks, businesses and attraction areas. Put together a plan for what imaginary ghost, ghoul or sweet character you will become this Halloween and check out one of them, or maybe visit them all!

In Daytona Beach, visit Boo Bash at Ocean Walk Shoppes on North Atantic Avenue. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 26 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Adults enjoy a “Haunted Happy Hour” all day long and a costume contest that could net one lucky winner $750!  The long list of fine businesses and merchants at Ocean Walk Shoppes will have treats and be ready to entertain the young trick-or-treaters that traverse their way through this popular beachside Daytona Beach establishment. Children can also show off their ghoulish dancing skills at the Monster Mash Mix and Costume Contest that’s planned.  Meanwhile, the fun doesn’t end with a little dress up, candy and dancing. Children also enjoy free midway games at the Ocean Walk Shoppes Boo Bash in Daytona Beach.

In Port Orange, hear a scary whale of a tale at the Port Orange Public Library from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31. Before the family heads out for a fun night of trick-or-treating, the Halloween Ghost Story Hour will excite the children, spook local dads and send chills down a mother’s spine. There will be candy, treats and safety tips for having Halloween fun. Children should arrive wearing their ghostly (or sweet) Halloween costume gear, bring a bag for treats and a flashlight, too. This could be your family’s first stop in the Halloween night quest for candy and a ghoulishly good time!

In Holly Hill, trick-or-treat enthusiasts can fill their bags and trunks at a Trunk-Or-Treat event at Hollyland Park. Local merchants attend this event each year, displaying decorated automobile trunks as they pass out wrapped candy to young ghouls, princesses and goblins. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Hollyland Park, located at 1046 Ridgewood Avenue. There’s no cost to attend and it’s a great place for safe Halloween family fun in the park.
