The Wyse Home Team – The Right Choice to Sell Your Home – December 5, 2012
The holidays are upon us. Christmas lights have begun to line the eves of homes and are beginning to light the streets in Daytona Beach. For many, it’s a season of giving and joy. For some of the area’s struggling families, however, the holidays can be a rough time of year. And not every young child would find that special toy under the tree without the help of organization like Toys for Tots. Search all homes for sale in Daytona Beach, FL.
For years, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in Daytona Beach has been collecting new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season each year to distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the area. The program aims to bring a message of hope to youngsters that could motivate them as they develop into the community’s future leaders and responsible citizens.
The Toys for Tots Campaign in Daytona Beach received an overwhelming number of requests from local families for gift assistance this year, according to their website. So a movement of community giving is needed for these children to experience the wonder of waking to find that special gift under the tree on Christmas morning. You can help.
Some national retailers have taken cues from the random acts of generosity being administered by people around Daytona Beach elsewhere. In fact, one trend of giving that has emerged, which involves people paying off the layaway debt balances of a stranger they do not know, has inspired Toys “R” Us to join in the season of giving similarly. Between now and December 16, the date by which people must pay off their layaway balances for the season, the toy store will “pay forward” the generosity of any person who chooses to pay the layaway balance for a stranger as an act of kindness in their store by donating $200 to Toys for Tots. The company is even tracking on its Facebook page where these random acts of kindness are happening so donors can see the impact and strength of the Daytona Beach residents’ generosity this giving season!
Toys “R” Us stores also are again accepting donations for Toys for Tots this holiday season, and toy collection boxes are currently set up at nearly 40 additional businesses and organizations in the Daytona Beach area. Among the collection sites are the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety on South Atlantic Avenue and Ruby Tuesday on North Atlantic Avenue.
So as you check your list and wrap those gifts this year, consider picking up something extra for a child who might otherwise go without this year. And to find other collection box locations, volunteer your time or make a donation, visit the Toys for Tots website.
